Baie-D'Urfé

Baie-D’Urfé, formerly known as Baie d’Urfé or Baie d’Urfee, is located in the West Island of Montreal. It is both an industrial and residential area.

A variety of building types and sizes, all built on roomy lots, define this diverse residential area. The lack of sidewalks in the municipality’s residential area contribute to the area’s attractiveness. Boaters frequently visit this location and often use the yacht or boat clubs in the area. An industrial park is located north of Autoroute 20 and the CN and CP railroad lines.

Baie-D’Urfé and neighboring Beaconsfield joined to become the borough of Beaconsfield-Baie-D’Urfé on January 1, 2002, as part of the 2002–2006 municipal reform of Montreal. Beaconsfield and Baie-D’Urfé both decided to demerge following a change in provincial government in 2003 and a provincial referendum in 2004, and were reconstituted as independent municipalities on January 1, 2006. They continue to be a part of Montreal’s urban agglomeration, nonetheless.
