Saint Leonard

The borough of Saint-Leonard is located in the northeastern part of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was a distinct city that was merged into Montreal in 2002. Saint-Léonard de Port Maurice was the original name of the former city, which was named after the Italian saint Leonard of Port Maurice.

On November 10, 1962, Saint-Léonard-de-Port-Maurice became the City of Saint-Léonard.

In 1967, the first arena (aréna Saint-Léonard) was built at 5300, boulevard Lacordaire. The years that followed witnessed a real housing boost in Saint-Léonard.

It has a population of roughly 75,000 people and covers an area of around 14 square kilometers.

The region is traversed by Quebec Autoroute 40, which is part of the Trans-Canada Highway. Saint-Leonard is reached through exits 76, 77, and 78. The projected Blue Line expansion of the Montreal Metro will feature three stations in Saint-Leonard, all of which will be located along Jean-Talon Street East, and is expected to open in 2029.

Carrefour Langelier is a modest retail complex on the corner of Jean-Talon Street East and Langelier Boulevard in Saint-Leonard. The Le Boulevard retail mall is also in Saint-Leonard, however a section of it is really in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.

The Leonardo Da Vinci Centre (Centre Leonardo Da Vinci) is a major English, French, and Italian community center located near Aréna Martin Brodeur on Lacordaire Boulevard.
