Southwest Quebec, Canada’s Dorval is a suburb on the island of Montreal. The city has been reported to have a population of 19,893 in 2020. Dorval is one of the least populated cities in the West Island while having the largest surface area. About 60% of the city’s territory is taken up by Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, which drives Dorval’s overall community to gather in the southern portion of the city.

With its founding in 1667, Dorval is both the oldest city in the West Island and one of the oldest in all of North America.

Six electoral districts make up the City of Dorval, and one councilor is chosen by district voters to represent each one. One mayor and six council members make up the municipal council. The mayor is chosen by all eligible voters.

In Dorval, there is a split in home ownership, with 59% of residents owning their homes and 41% renting. Activities like reading, gardening, and swimming are popular in the neighborhood.
