Oka

Northwest of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is the small village of Oka, which is located on the Ottawa River’s northern bank (Rivière des Outaouais in French).

The town is connected through Quebec Route 344 and is situated in the Laurentians valley on Lake of Two Mountains where the Ottawa River meets the St. Lawrence River. It is 50 kilometres northwest of Montreal.

Oka is a natural reserve, approximately 40 minutes away from the city of Montreal, making it an excellent day trip and a great place to get away from the city.

Although Oka is a small town, there is plenty of local restaurants to taste and fantastic outdoor activities! Additionally, the nearby little towns in Quebec have a lot to offer as well.

The beach is open every day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Lifeguards are on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Oka Abbey

Visit the Oka Abbey, you have to. Although you won’t be allowed to enter, you may stroll about the grounds and take in the building’s design.

There are mountain biking and hiking routes on the Abbey grounds. Despite not leading to an observation point, the journey is a decent one up a mountain. The mountain bikers may be pretty aggressive, so you do need to pay attention to the signage to make sure you are on the right track for pedestrians.
