Lorraine

Lorraine is a wealthy community in the Thérèse-De Blainville Regional County Municipality in southwest Quebec, Canada. The homes in Lorraine are nearly entirely detached homes with few businesses and a very small amount of commercial space. The commercial space that does exist features one clinic, one shopping mall, a golf course, a gym, a small grocery store, and an arena. In addition, a sizable piece of the town’s land has been designated as wild forest, Forêt du Grand Côteau, through which certain bike and ski trails pass. The town is seemingly devided in two sections, Uptown and Downtown, also known as Lorraine en haut and Lorraine en bas, colloquially, because the northern area is on higher ground.

Lorraine is renowned for its outstanding sense of calm, strict adherence to urban planning guidelines, and environmentally conscientious pollution control. With some 3,000,000 trees, a portion of the Route verte along the Rivière des Mille Îles, protected areas of the Grand Coteau forest, and 28 parks crisscrossing this 5 km2 community, its 10,000 residents are more than happy to live there.
