Laval-des-Rapides is a district in the Canadian city of Laval. Until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965, it was an independent city.
Chomedey borders the district on the north, north-west, and west, Pont-Viau borders the east and north-east, and the Rivière des Prairies borders the south.
Laval-des-Rapides is one of Laval’s busiest, central districts. It is well known for housing the Laval campus of the University of Montreal.

Laval-des-Rapides has it all, from quiet residential streets and tiny shops to big commercial malls like Quartier Laval and large colleges like the University of Montreal’s Laval campus and Collège Montmorency.
It also has Laval’s sole metro stations. It’s almost like a city within a city!
Since Laval-des-Rapides is so diversified, the ambiance varies depending on whatever street you seem to be on. Travelling along Cartier Boulevard, you’d believe this community was residential and suburban, yet on Boulevard de la Concorde, the bigger companies and educational institutions give off active city impressions.
In the Laval-des-Rapides district, you’ll discover a wide variety of populations due to the nearby cégep and university, many younger generations live on their own or with a flat mate.

High schools in the area include, Laval Senior Academy and Mont-De-La Salle High School.
As mentioned earlier, Laval-de-Rapides is home to Universite de Montreal’s Laval branch as well as Collège Montmorency.
