Vimont

Vimont is a neighborhood of Laval, Quebec. Until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965, it was an independent city. Before the 1960s, it used to be called Saint-Elzéar.

The municipality of Saint-Elzéar changed its name to Vimont on November 6, 1962, which was marked by a large celebration.

The municipality was renovated at the same time by acquiring a town hall, which housed numerous municipal services, including the fire station.

This district is on Île Jésus in the heart of Laval. Duvernay borders the region on the west, and Pont Viau on the south. Auteuil and Sainte-Rose are to the north, with Sainte-Rose wrapping around to the northeast. Chomedey borders Vimont on the south east side.

In the center of Laval, Vimont is a real suburban neighborhood. While it is a residential community, it has all of its own facilities, thus making it a city inside a city — locals have access to restaurants, super markets, shops, and even a healthcare center.
