Saint-François

After Duvernay, Saint-François (originally Saint-François-de-Sales) is the second biggest district of Laval, Quebec, Canada. Until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965, it was an independent city.

Saint-François, a big district located at the northeastern edge of Laval and Île Jésus, has plenty of area. The wide region is bounded to the north by the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, and to the south by the Rivière-des-Prairies and Duervnay. Highway 335 divides Saint-François from Auteuil to the west.

Despite its proximity to downtown Laval and the city of Montreal, this neighborhood is largely made up of farmlands and fields, with a couple of neighborhood streets placed in between and along the waterfront, where locals on bicycles can usually be found riding through and enjoying the view.

Saint-François has a very domestic and calm feel. Around every street corner, you’ll probably see neighbors casually working in their yards or maintaining their motorbikes as their children play in the playgrounds, ice skating rinks, and skateparks accessible to inhabitants.

The city really thrives from a booming economy built on the success of farmers and businesses.
