Fabreville

Fabreville is a neighborhood in the city of Laval, Quebec. Until the municipal mergers on August 6, 1965, it was a separate city.

The recently developed neighborhood is located in the northern portion of Laval, surrounded to the north by the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. Fabreville is peaceful, vast, and highly residential. Fabreville is divided from the Sainte-Rose neighborhood to the east, the Sainte-Dorothée district to the south, and the Laval-Ouest region to the southwest by Highway 15.

The district of Fabreville was once known as the municipality of the western half of the parish of Sainte-Rose, and the general populations referred to it as “Sainte-Rose Ouest.” The municipality did not change status until February 21, 1957, when it was granted the name “city of Fabreville.”

Sainte-Rose Ouest, which became the city of Fabreville in 1957, witnessed a rise in residential construction throughout the 1950s and 1960s, similar to many other parts of Île Jésus.

Fabreville’s population doubled over the first half of the 1960s, rising from 5,213 in 1961 to 10,711 in 1966, placing it third in terms of yearly population growth after the cities of Vimont and Auteuil.
