Chomedey

Chomedey is a neighborhood in southwest Laval that used to be an independent municipality before the mergers in 1965.

On the 1st of April in 1961, the cities of Saint-Martin and L’Abord-à-Plouffe and Renaud merged to become Chomedey. The municipal history of its area, which encompasses the majority of the church of Saint-Martin.

Chomedey thereafter established itself as a modern metropolis with noticeable residential and industrial growth. Chomedey’s industrial commission is quite active. During 1962 and 1964, the city welcomed an average of one new industry per month for two years in a row! Showing just how rapid Chomedey’s industrial development is.

In summary, Chomedey is gradually becoming into its own urban city.
